Logan Circle is an urban community in the northwest part of Washington D.C. For many reasons, it's also a great place to buy a home. In this guide, we will examine Logan Circle from a real estate angle. So let's start at the beginning:

A Brief History of Logan Circle

This community was originally named Iowa Circle, and it dates back to the late 1800's. In 1930, more than 60 years after the end of the Civil War, Congress passed a bill to name the area after General John Logan, a Civil War general and U.S. senator. Thus, the Washington D.C. neighborhood is today known as Logan Circle.

Thankfully, much of this history is still intact, especially from a real estate and architectural perspective. In fact, the beautiful and historic Victorian brownstones are what attract many buyers to this area. Today, the Logan Circle real estate scene can be best described as historic, but with an eye toward restoration and renaissance.

The Community Association

Like many neighborhood communities in the Washington D.C. area, Logan Circle is managed and maintained by an association of residents. The Logan Circle Community Association (LCCA) was created in 1972 to sustain and improve the quality of life for residents.

For prospective home buyers considering Logan Circle as a real estate investment, this is an important concept. The LCCA takes great pride in the steady improvement of the neighborhood community. According to the association's website, their primary goals are "Enhancing the quality of life [in Logan Circle] and promoting economic development. Preserving the historic, architectural and aesthetic value of property."
