As with most cities in Orange County, California, Fullerton is a popular city for home buyers. With that being said, the Fullerton real estate market has its ups and downs like any other city in the United States. But it's still considered to be a relative hot spot for real estate in this country.
Fullerton Stats - Population, Geography, Etc.
The city of Fullerton is located in northern Orange County in California. Fullerton is surrounded by such cities as Anaheim to the south, Placentia to the east, Buena Park to the west, and Brea to the north.
Fullerton is also located approximately 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The Pacific Ocean is about 12 miles to the southwest of Fullerton, California (as the "crow flies").

To chart the overall growth of the population in Fullerton, California (which is also a measure of the Fullerton real estate market), one simply has to compare data over the last few years:
In 2000, the population of Fullerton was around 126,000. In 2006, the population had grown to around 132,000 people. So while the city is certainly growing, as are most U.S. cities, is doing so at a slow but steady pace. Something to keep in mind as you continue to research real estate in Fullerton, California.
In fact, if you go back 20 years or so, you can see that the population growth of Fullerton has actually slowed. Through a ten-year period in the 1990's, the population had grown by 10 percent. But so far in the current decade (2000 - 2010), Fullerton's growth rate is expected to be only 5 percent.
Schools & Colleges

Public schools with grades K - 8 (elementary and junior high) fall under the purview of the Fullerton School District.
The Fullerton Joint Union High School District oversees grades 9 - 12 (the city's high schools). There are six 4-year high schools within this district: Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, Sonora, Sunny Hills, and Troy. The district also manages a continuation high school (La Vista), as well as an alternative high school (La Sierra).
California State University, Fullerton, is located in the city. The Fullerton campus of CSU is located on 240 acres of a former orange grove. It is one of the largest campuses in the California State University system, with approximately 37,000 students enrolled (2007).
There are other colleges and universities in the city as well, such as Fullerton College, Hope International University (a Christian college) and others.
